DIPHU, Aug 8: The 2nd Inter-Church Knock-out Football tournament was inaugurated at Christian English School playground on Tuesday.
The tournamentwas organized by Diphu Baptist Church Youth Ministry (DBCYM). The tourney was organized in order to bring closer among various churches in doing ministry in the district. It also aimed at interacting the youth from different churches and know each other for better understanding and cooperation to reach the Gospel of Christ.
The opening ceremony of the tournament was graced by Rev. Khoyasing Ronghang, Rev. David Engti, Rev. Benting Teron, Pastor Hilson Singnar and youth ministry workers.
On Tuesday, Hidibonglong of Bakalia defeated host Diphu Baptist Church Youth Ministry (A) by a margin of 5 goals to one in the opening match.
Tarabasa Baptist Church was pushed to the task by the debutante Deithor Baptist Church by 6-1 goals in the first match of the ongoing Inter-Church Football Knock -out tournament on Wednesday.
TBC had couple of golden chances during the match, but failed to convert it to their advantage and also created enough scoring opportunities, but their inability to find the back of the net kept frustrating them all throughout the match.
At the end it was enough for Deithor BC to take them to the next round.
Later, in the second match of the day Lumbajong BC beat Kuki Christian Church 2-1. Here was good challenging play from LBC early on and they were more energetic in the field than their more fancied rivals, with every player playing his role perfectly. Although, Kuki CC had several chances but were able to convert only one goal while Lumbajong BC controlled the game and had more ball possession, and went on to score two goals.
