NRL becomes highest Corporate Tax Payer of North-East


Correspondent; GUWAHATI, Jul 24: Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. (NRL) was felicitated today for being the highest Corporate Tax Payer in the North Eastern Region for Assessment Year (AY) 2017-18, on the occasion of 158thIncome Tax Day celebration at Hotel Gateway Grandeur, Guwahati. On behalf of NRL, Sr. CGM (Corporate Affairs) Shri A K Bhattacharya received the honours from Shri L C Joshi Ranee, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, NER.

A Category-I Miniratna PSU, having the latest technology and the largest installed capacity of 3.0 MMTPA in the North-East, NRL has emerged as the highest Tax payer in NE having paid Corporate Income Tax of Rs.934.97 crores for Financial Year (FY) 2016-17 (i.e. AY 2017-18) along with Dividend Distribution Tax of Rs.202.17 crores, taking the tally of total taxes paid to Rs.1137.14 crores.

The Company’s refining business is continuing to deliver stellar performances. During FY 2017-18, the Company’s revenue from operations has further increased by 14.17% to Rs.15,923.19 crores as against Rs. 13,946.92 crores during FY 2016-17. Profit for the FY 2017-18 was also impressive at Rs.2,044.65 crores as against Rs. 2,100.57 crores in FY 2016-17.

The Refinery has a product range comprising of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), Naphtha, Motor Spirit (Petrol), Aviation Turbine Fuel, High Speed Diesel, Superior Kerosene Oil, Raw/Calcined Petroleum Coke, Sulphur and Paraffin Wax. Post commissioning of its Wax Plant in March, 2015, NRL has emerged as the largest Wax producing unit in the country.
