DIPHU, June 17: The All Assam Students Union (AASU) Diphu Regional Committee on Sunday organized a felicitation programme to HSLC successful candidates at Diphu Club from 10 am onwards.
Altogether 88 students who secured distinction and star marks in the last HSLC examination were feted. Gold medalist of National Master Games Pakhila Engtipi was also honoured in the said programme. The programme was chaired by Shorjun Hanse while Pro-Vice Chancellor of AUDC Prof. Sivashish. Biswas attended the programme as chief guest along with other dignitaries who include Vedanta Saikia, Bhavesh Gogoi, Tridip Bora and others.
During the programme, AASU urged the KAAC authority to give financial assistance to Pakhila Engtipi as she is going for international event to Malaysia next month. “We need to encourage her as she has the potential to compete in the international arena. KAAC should support talented sportspersons of the district only construction of mini stadium and open stage will not solve the problems,” said AASU leaders. .
They also alleged that in BTAD, the authority is very much concerned about any person who brings fame, laurels to the region but why KAAC never come out openly to encourage the sports personality? We urged the KAAC authority to provide essential assistance to all sports personality in different fields so that they can compete in the bigger and tougher challenge. On the other hand, they also said that KAAC should try their level best in establishment more colleges with Science and Commerce streams in Karbi Anglong District.
