Students’ Organisations Seek DGP’s Intervention
DIPHU, Jun 15: The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA), Greater Guwahati Karbi Students’ Association (GGKSA) and All India Karbi Students’ Union (AIKSU) on Friday appealed DGP’s intervention so that Karbi students whose names appeared in merit list in several colleges in Guwahati may get admission without any disturbances from other. The appeal was made during a meeting held at DGP office conference hall.
Mentioning that many Karbi students who seek admission at colleges in Guwahati could not take admission on the given dates as situation turned unfavourable following the lynching of two youths from Guwahati, the students’ body appealed the DGP to extend full cooperation beside security the students. The organizations also appealed the DGP not to make arbitrary arrest to innocent people as this may create fear psychosis to villagers. On the other hand, the DGP while agreeing to their demands appealed the 28 organizations attending the meeting to spread awareness to the public to stop spreading rumours, fake message or videos in social media sites.
A total of 28 organizations which include All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), KSA, AIKSU, Tribal Sangha and others attended the meeting.
