Stop issuing land pattas to illegal migrants, students’ orgs to KAAC


Correspondent, BOKAJAN, June 7: The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) in collaboration with All Assam Students Union (AASU), AJYCP, Students and Youth for Justice (SYJ) and Students and Youth Council (SYC) Bokajan Regional Committee organized a dharna in front of SDO (Civil) office, Bokajan on Thursday.

The organizations also submitted a memorandum to Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang through the SDO (Civil) Bokajan regarding illegal issue of land pattas to illegal migrants in border areas under KAAC, rise of anti-social activities, unresolved inter-state (Karbi Anglong and Nagaland) disputes and border influx.

While addressing the media, KSA president Simeon Rongphar stated that rampant encroachment along Karbi Anglong border should be stopped immediately and they will not stop protesting until their demands are fulfilled for the betterment of common people.

Rongphar further stated that illegal issue of land patta at Lahorijan, Karagaon and Khatkhati area along Nagaland Karbi Anglong border is so rampant which they are compelled to stage dharna and also submitted a memorandum to CEM demanding him to solve the issue.

The programme was led by several students’ leaders who include KSA Bokajan District Commmittee president Raju Engleng, KSA Central Committee president Simeon Rongphar, KSA Bokajan Regional Committee adviser Kangbura Timung, Lobojyoty Gogoi from AJYCP, Ajoy Katha from SYJ and others.
