2nd Rongjali Bwisagu celebrated at Ramthepi


Correspondent, PHELANGPI, May 13: Dularai Boro Harimu Afat (DBHA), West Karbi Anglong Anchalik Committee on Sunday concluded the 2nd Rongjali Bwisagu at Ramthepi in West Karbi Anglong district.

The event which was held from May 9 was organized by DBHA of Jengkha. The event began at 9:00 AM with registration of delegates participating in the programme. Following registration several competitions including painting competition was held and the second day of the event on May 12 commenced with hoisting of DBHA flag led by WKAAC president Broken Basumatary at 8:00 AM followed by open meeting on Rongjali Bwisagu.

Amreng MAC Rina Terangpi, who was present as chief guest on the second day inaugurated Ramthepi Open Stage in the afternoon immediately after which was followed by a public meeting which was inaugurated by Kapili MAC Pawan Kumar Rai. The meeting was chaired by WKAAC president Brojen Basumatary and the objective of the meeting wes explained by secretary Ajit Baglary. Other important dignitaries present at the meeting include ex-BLT chairmen Santanu Basumatary, Kapili VDC chairmen Honsing Terang, and ABSU –KADC president Tanuram Daimary.

Speaking at the meeting EM Tarendra Brahma said that all Bodo individual have the responsibility towards their overall development. He also said that a tribe or community who forgets or do not know his own language, culture, folk dance, music, tradition and language, which is the identity and integral part of their existence, cannot claim themselves as absolute member of that tribe or community. He therefore urged upon the people, and especially the youths to remain rooted to their life of their respective tribe or community and preserve it through its promotion in various ways and in different capacities.

EM Brahma also assured the people of Ramthepi to take up their genuine issues and problems with the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council chief so that it can be addressed.
