Baisakhi Observed in Haflong

HALFLONG, Apr 17: The Sikh community of Dima Hasao district, Assam have observed the annual Baisakhi festival in Saturday last at Haflong with great enthusiasm and fervor. The festival also mark the beginning of ‘Khalsa Panth’.

The Haflong Gurdwara Management Committee, Haflong like every year organized a special prayer at the Haflong Gurdwara and extended best wishes to all the people terming the Baisakhi as significant festival having cultural values of Assam.

On this occasion various program including raising of gurdwara flag, community kitchen was organized after prayer and Kirtan at the Gurdwara premises. The program was attended by large number of people of all community including army personal, administrative officers and others. It was on this day in 1699, when the tenth Sikh Guru , Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji established the Khalsa Panth.
