HSDC visit Bogidhala Tea Estate laborers


Bokajan, Dec 21: Hills sate Demand Committee (HSDC) leaders including Laichan Engleng Secretary HSDC, Amlong Ingti AGS and Anthony Kathar member, visited the 14 tea garden workers who sustained bullet injuries when their owners opened fire on them at Numaligarh area of Assam’s Golaghat district on December 13, 2017 last.

It could be mention that at least 14 tea garden laborers sustained bullet injuries when owners of the estate opened fire on them in the Numaligarh area of Assam’s under Golaghat district.

The incident took place at Bogidhala Tea Estate, about 27 km from Golaghat town, at 10.30 am when a group of workers went to the bungalow of their owners Samir Ray and Sudhir Ray to seek their pending wages and launched a protest. This enraged the Rays who started firing at the unarmed workers, leaving 14 of them in a critically injured.

Later, soon after the incident hundreds of tea garden workers thronged the spot and start protesting and their brutal act. A team of police and CRPF personnel reached the spot and brought the situation under control after wielding batons on the agitating workers. Police have registered a case with the Golaghat police station and arrested Samir and Sudhir.
