HALFLONG, Nov 17: A public coordination meeting on peace and tranquility was held in Haflong Circuit House today. The meeting was convened by the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao Deva Jyoti Hazarika, concerning recent hue on greater Nagalim issues which has created apprehension in the region. The meeting was attended by the S.P. Ankur Jain, MLA 16-Haflong (ST) constituency B.B. Hagjer, EM for N C Hills Autonomous Council, Samuel Changsan, Mahindra Kemprai, N C Hills Autonomous Council Principle Secretary (N) Mukut Kemprai ,Commanding Officer 43 Assam Rifles, Gagan Pandey, dignitaries, student organizations, apex bodies, GBs, representative from all political parties and communities.
During the meeting Deputy Commissioner Hazarika explained the purpose of the meeting and discussed on the issue of greater Nagalim. The DC Hazarika said that the Nagalim issue is not yet finalized and is merely a speculation where he appeal all sections of people of the district to stay calm and not to belief rumours on Greater Nagaland issue and to maintain peace, tranquility and brotherhood in the district. He also urged all the member present to be alert from instigator and to create maximum awareness and wide spread message to the people of the district not to belief in hearsay which might cause confusion and to cooperate with the district administration.
Other hand Dima Hasao S.P. Ankur Jain urged the member present to lodge complaint if anyone is spreading rumors or misleading people on Greater Nagalim issue for taking action against instigators involved in such activity and to beef up the security to maintain law and order situation in the district.
Other speakers and representative from student organizations, communities, apex bodies and political parties present also expressed their views and utter their voices for need of cooperation and coordination among all community living in the district at this juncture showing extreme goodwill to maintain peace, tranquility and brotherhood in the district ,latter the meeting was ended with pledge for peace ,brotherhood and development of the Nation as a whole by all members present in the house.
