Suroj Barman; Haflong, Nov 3: All India Radio (AIR), Halflong on Tuesday last commemorated 25th years of glorious services to the people of Haflong and a programme was held today at District Library Auditorium from 4 PM, sources said.
The programme was graced by NCHAC EM for Sport Kulendra Daulagupu as chief guest along with guest of honour MLA Bir Bhadra Hagjer and other distinguish guest Dilip Das, Station Director, A.I.R, Guwahati and Mrinal Baruah, Programme Executive, A.I.R, Guwahati.
The programme was started with felicitation to the guests followed by lighting of lamps and welcome speech by the organizer. Speaking on the occasion MLA BB Hagjer highlighted the significance of radio and its impacts on the lives of common man on various aspects like information on weather, agriculture, technology, education, economics and enriching the people with news from all corners leading to development he also congratulated the AIR, Haflong on completion of its 25th glorious year. The speeches were also delivered by the other guest present emphasizing significant of Radio in all aspects of life bringing community together.
On the occasion different community has displayed their colourful traditional dances followed by song and special musical performance by the local artists and showcased the achievement of AIR since its inception in the year 1992 .Gagan Pandey, Commandant 43, Assam Rifles, Major Sailendra Yadav of 43 Assam Rifles, Dr. Mirzanul Rahman, Principal Haflong Govt. College, other dignitaries and large numbers of general public were also present to witness the programme.
