Diphu, Sept 21: Month after the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched in the country, the BJP led KAAC too took an initiative to keep Karbi Anglong clean and green the authority formed Clean Karbi Anglong Mission (CKAM) entrusting some departmental officials as nodal officers to monitor and look after the ongoing cleanliness drive in the district.
But with the passing of time, concern officials and public leaders were seen withering away from monitoring and checking responsibilities in the district. Needless to mention about other parts of the district, Diphu which is headquarter of the district is now filled with filthy materials and garbages.
“All the dustbin which they (CKAM) have installed in different locations in the town to kept garbage and other waste materials are now fall out and no authority went to pick up for month after months,” added a residents of Pirbi Market.
“Until and unless the mindset of the people are change how can we expect a clean environment? We need to conduct more awareness on cleanliness and it should be a continuous process instead of just installing dustbins without any follow-up task. Children should be taught at home and workshop to labours, vegetable sellers, businessmen, etc in the town. If their mentality is not transform the so called Swachh Bharat Mission will be a total failure in the district,” said Longkiri Hanse of Diphu.
Another citizen of Diphu added that our KAAC leaders and departmental officials should be ashamed of posting their photos in Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media site by holding brooms and taking pledge without giving important to the sanitations workers in Diphu town. ‘We need to consider their demands and also should organize workshop and talk involving the social, student and youth organizations of the town.
