Bakalia, Sept 21: The Red Horns Division of Indian army based at Diphu conducted health camp at Thokvam Rongpi village under COB, Bakalia here on Thursday, army sources said.
The medical camp for the villagers was conducted under ‘Operation Sadbhavana Project 2017-18’ began from 9:00 a.m. and was concluded at 5:00 p.m. “Around 305 civilians including 147 men, 125 women and 33 children from Thokvam Rongpi village and adjoining areas were provided with medical support and care by the army and civilian doctors from Assam Medical Service.
Patients were provided free medical advice and medicines at their doorsteps, which otherwise have to travel long distances for medical aid.
During the medical camp, army personnel also interacted with the youth, motivating them to join armed forces. In addition to this, the army personnel also inspired the youths to take part in the pre-recruitment rallies and subsequent training assistance prior to recruitment rallies conducted by the army.
The initiative of the Indian army is part of its programme aimed at fulfilling the needs of the peoples and to alleviate their problems, development of remote and inaccessible areas where civil administration is barely existent, assuaging the feeling of alienation and establishing permanent peace in the hill district of the state
