Diphu, Sept 20: Indian army belonging to the Red Horns Division along with police busted a militant hideout during an operation during which five militants were also apprehended and huge cache of arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession in West Karbi Anglong district. This was informed by army source here this evening.
“Based on specific intelligence about presence of Hynnietrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) Cadres, unit of the Red Horns Division and police launched a series of operations at multiple locations in West Karbi Anglong District of Assam on 18-19 September 2017,” army source said.
The members of the militant group was apprehended through an information provided by an arrested cadre who also revealed about the location of a hideout in jungle near the Assam-Meghalya border areas, where cache of weapons, ammunition & explosives were concealed.
The joint operation was launched on the morning of September 19 during which a hideout was busted from inside the deep jungle.
The huge cache of arms and explosives recovered from the hideout include two G3 Rifles, one 303 Rifle(Factory Made), one 7.62 mm Pistol (Factory Made), one Single Barrel Gun (Factory Made), 10 Kg explosives, 40 detonators, 66 live rounds and other warlike stores.
