Diphu, Aug 31: One day workshop on sports journalism organized by District Press Club of Karbi Anglong (DPCKA) in collaboration with Assam Sports Journalist Association (ASJA) was held at Farmer’s Growth Centre’s auditorium hall, Diphu on Thursday.
The programme was inaugurated by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) EM Raju Tisso who attended as chief guest. In his speech he appreciated the efforts of ASJA and DPCKA saying that it was a valuable programme organized by them for the journalists in the district. He also assured the organizations to keep in touch in future.
President of ASJA Subodh Malla Barua who attended the programme as resource person while speaking on the topic sports journalist and journalism said that sports news is also one of the essential parts in print media. He also stated that the government of India gives priority to interested persons below 25 years on sports’ reporter programme held every year. He further stated that a person can become sports journalist on his own interests and excel in the field.
Retired Programme head, PPC North East Rupendra Narayan Bora stressed particularly on TV journalism saying that TV is a strong and fastest form of media.
“To become a sport journalist, one need to have a degree and a diploma in order to know the rules and regulations of the games,” he stated.
Speaking on photo journalism, he said that a small photo can change the whole environment in a region.
Meanwhile, vice-president of ASJA Jugal Lochan Das also spoke on sports journalism saying that journalists have different divisions like political, sports, crime etc. he also mentioned that journalists should read more newspapers and magazines to become good at reporting and writing news.
The programme was also attended by renowned photo journalist Samsul H. Patgiri and noted social worker Bishnu Ram Nunisa as resource persons and JAFA state president Longsing Teron as guest.
