Congress (I) Calls for Emergency Meeting at Nomati, Post Poll Assessment and Interaction Held

Correspondent; Den Arong, Jun 25: Shocked and dismayed over the Congress (I) defeat in the recently declared Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election 2017, Ashok Teron who contested from No. 16 Nomati MAC constituency today called for an emergency meeting and calculated their shortcomings and miscalculations committed by them that led to their defeat.

The meeting which was held at the residence of one Semson Sing Engti at Parakhowa at around 11:30 am was presided over by Ashok Teron and attended by 23 Primary Congress Committee (PCC), NMCC, NMMCC, NYMCC workers and leaders along with several supporters from in and around the constituency.

During the meeting all the Congress leaders and supporters analyzed the reports collected from various polling stations and blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for ragging during voting and counting procedures.

“We are shocked because we know that there are more Congress supporters than BJP in Nomati MAC constituency. It is the BJP’s policy of trying to win the election through unfair means,” Ashok Teron stated.

Meanwhile, the Congress workers also demanded for a reelection in their constituency stating that the recently held election was illegal. Ashok Teron encouraged the supporters that they should not lose hope with the defeat but move forward and work tirelessly for the society. He also mentioned that a meeting was held at Diphu regarding reelection and a written appeal has already been sent to the Election Commission.
