Herd of Wild Elephants go Rampage in Khatkhati


Correspondent; Bokajan, Jun 24: A herd of wild elephants on Friday destroyed 16 houses belong to Sitaram Parik, Ranjit Paul, Chandan Mazumder, Ajay Paul and other at Pacca field under Khatkhati police station.

The wild elephants almost a dozen in number, came down from nearby forest in search of food and rampaged through the village located near NH-39.

SGB Bawan Singh told our reporters, “A herd of elephants descend all of a sudden and attacked our houses creating panic among the peoples, this was not the first incident, we have been facing the wrath of the Jumbo in the past, but so far the forest department fails to provide any security”.
