KSA Slams CM for not Uttering on Implementation of Article 244 (A)

Diphu, May 9: The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) slammed Assam’s chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and BJP for not uttering a single word on implementation of Article 244 (A) during his maiden visit to Karbi Anglong on May 7 since his party came to power and he became the chief minister.

The KSA said that Sonowal purposely remained mum over the issue knowing that leaders of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council are not spirited and sincere enough in their demand for the implementation of the said Article.

“Instead of implementing Article 244 (A) the BJP government is working in a destructive manner in order to eradicate the Karbis and other indigenous tribes living in the district through their policy. Right from border issue to the implementation of Clause 8 of Bodo accord, the tribes in Karbi Anglong that include Karbis, Dimasas, Rengmas, Kukis, Tiwas,
Hmars and others are on the verge of encountering problem but the chief minister was not even bothered about it,” president KSA Simeon Rongphar said.

The KSA also slammed the BJP government saying that instead of giving protection to the tribals, the party is doing its best to eliminate them by awarding an amount of Rs. 2 lakhs 50 thousand to any non-tribal men entering into a marital relationship with the tribal women.

“We will strongly condemned the BJP’s policy to eradicate the tribals and we will also fight against TET, SIU, PIU through which the BJP government is trying to fry us on a hot pan. We will not stop our fighting and our demand which the government has to take responsibility about it,” the KSA added.
