AISA Hills Committee Urges KAAC to Tackle Chronic Problems in Educational System, Says Problems Cropped up due to Negligence


Diphu, May 9: All India Students’ Association (AISA) Hills Committee has urged the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Education Department to take up necessary steps to tackle chronic problems in the educational systems of the district. This was stated in a press communiqué here this evening.

Statement said that the educational system of Karbi Anglong is riddled with many problems and are caused due to negligence of KAAC authority. The organization said that though there are twelve colleges in the district yet quality and results are not up to the mark and therefore, it needed to be looked into immediately by concerned authority.

The organization said that shortage of teachers as per requirement and non-teaching staff at the grassroots level is one of the main problems in the system which have a direct bearing affect on the performance of students. The student organization said that KAAC must take immediate steps for introduction of Commerce and Science stream in majority of the existing colleges which are yet to be introduced. They also demand for increase of seats reservation for the local youths in colleges and university irrespective of technical and non-technical institution.

The AISA Hills Committee has also expressed their strong opposition against state government’s imposition of different norms and criteria on the people under the Sixth Scheduled area. The organization also criticized KAAC elected representatives for ‘always remaining’ as mute spectator on several important issues.
