Diphu, Mar 25: Based on the news item published in Asomiya Pratidin on March 25 at page 16 regarding ‘Karbi Anglong ot Punor Daini Kando’, village headman of Rensing Rongpi Arong, Joysing Rongpi stated that the news article as appeared in the afore mentioned newspaper has been misinterpreted.
“Rensing Rongpi village consisting of 125 families has been a very peaceful village since its inception. The decision of the gaonbura and the village folks of Rensing Rongpi village has been misinterpreted by a section of ill intended group of people who despised traditional Karbi customary law since the original proceedings of the meeting was written in Karbi language,” the village headman clarified.
Rongpi also clarified that Khorsing Phangcho and his family were neither mishandled nor were their house or properties vandalized. He further said that since Khorsing Phangcho accepted of his guilt, five days time was given to him to temporarily leave the village in order to calm down the immediate situation.
“Khorsing Phangcho’s family members have not been asked to leave the village and were affirmed that their house and property would not be destroyed at any cost. If Phangcho desires to return back to the village, decision will be taken by the Gaonbura later on as per the customary law,” Rongpi concluded.
