KLTA Hold Protest on Various Issues


Diphu: The Karbi Language Teachers’ Association (KLTA) held a sit-in-demonstration at Semson Sing Engti Memorial Park in Diphu today. The sit-in demonstration was led by KLTA president Dhonsing Bey and secretary Dhoniram Kro.

The protest was held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during which demonstrators chanted their various demands before submitting a memorandum to KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang at his chamber.

Through the memorandum, members of the Karbi Language Teachers’ Association demanded the KAAC for immediate regularization of Karbi Language Teacher and Karbi Medium Teacher posts, recognition of Karbi Language as MIL up to university level. The other demand of KLTA included enhancement of salary up to Rs.15,000 until the regularization, equal salary to all teachers from LP to High School level and appointment assistant teachers as Karbi Subject.

The language teachers through the memorandum appealed the KAAC for fulfilmeny of creation of another 484 posts of Karbi Language Teachers in ME and high schools in the district as was discussed with state education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in 2012.
