Dr. Bina Tokbipi Conferred Best Karbipi Award

Staff Reporter, Diphu: The Best Karbipi honour was today conferred to Dr. Bina Tokbipi by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang today. The programme was chaired by KRA president Biman Kro was held at the Karbi Riso Adorbar (KRA) office in Diphu.

Present at the award giving event include EM D. Uphing Maslai, MAC Horensing Bey, KANCHASDCOM president Ajit Timung, KLA president Suren Kramsa, KYF founder Roy Inghi, Art & Culture deputy director Hemari Tokbi, TCRO Rani Terangpi, District Library librarian Kajir Helen Hansepi and others.

KRA general secretary Gautam Rongpi welcomed all the guests and KSA general secretary Moniram Tokbi read out the biography of the awardee. This was immediately followed by reading out of citation by KSA president Bijoy Bey.

The Best Karbipi honour for the year 2015 conferred to Dr. Bina Tokbipi was received by her family member o her behalf as she was not able to personally attend the ceremony due to some unavoidable circumstance. The award to Dr. Tokbipi was conferred for her works in the professional medical field.

A sash, flower bouquet, citation and a gift to the family member of Dr. Bina Tokbipi was handed over by chief guest CEM Ronghang.

During his short speech CEM Ronghang lauded the organizer for recognizing and honouring individuals for their exceptional works and contributions towards the society.

CEM also announced Rs. 30 lakhs for construction of KRA permanent office building. KAAC CEM Ronghang further said, “The construction of permanent building of Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA) will begin very shortly for which Rs. 1 crore has also been sanctioned and the foundation would be laid on March 27 of this month.”

CEM Ronghang also reminded that while work for society organization must also continue to work and their support towards separate statehood for Karbi Anglong.

It may be mentioned that the Best Karbipo and Karbipi has been instituted by the Karbi Riso Adorbar (KRA), Karbi So-Arlo Amei (KARSA) and Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) since 2003 to individual in recognition for their exceptional works for the Karbi society.
